Timeline
September-November 2025
Fewer people are entering long-term relationships, yet dating scene have seen little meaningful innovation. Profiles often feel unnatural and performative, making it difficult to represent oneself authentically. By asking the right questions through voice, connection becomes more intuitive and revealing.
Goal
My focus was to design a thoughtful, human-centered interface that bridges AI and human emotion to redefine modern matchmaking through voice-first conversations.
Understanding the Brand

Joey is…
An AI matchmaking companion powered by voice, designed for depth.
Joey can…
Listen and understand you through conversation, then match you.
Joey is not…
Another dating app built on swiping, performing, or wasting your time.
Design Logic
Not an algorithm. A spectrum of understanding.
I utilized gradients as the primary visual language to communicate a human-centered approach to connection. The soft transitions and blended colors convey warmth and fluidity, positioning Joey as a companion that listens, adapts, and responds naturally.

I focused on designing a natural progression that introduces Joey before guiding users into the experience and call to action.
Meeting Joey
Opening introduces the experience through a familiar text message that immediately signals Joey as a contact you talk to, not an app you scroll.
The Vision
This section gently showcases the joy and connection that Joey can bring, using subtle parallax motion to create an engaging, layered visual effect that draws users into the promise of meaningful relationships.
The Experience
Process of Joey is broken into six human-centered stages: calling, searching, igniting, meeting, reflecting, and evolving. This helps users understand what it feels like to engage with Joey over time.
Designed for Calm, Not Performance
Who is Joey?
The Problem
The Approach
Subtle motion, soft transitions, and restrained behaviors reinforce emotional safety and trust, ensuring a supportive experience.
Logo

The logo blends a handwritten script “j” with a clean wordmark. The expressive, fluid stroke paired with the structured typography signals that Joey is both intelligent and deeply personal.
Color

Orange anchors Joey’s identity with warmth and social energy, reinforcing the product’s human-centered approach to connection.
Typeface

The bespoke script typeface introduces an imperfect quality that echoes natural voice, contrasting with clean system typography.
Takeaway

This project taught me how important it is to help clients translate their ideas into clear design direction. Through regular conversations and constant iteration, I learned how to surface intentions that were felt intuitively but difficult to articulate. I intentionally showed multiple versions of the work—even when the differences were subtle—and explained how small visual changes could shift tone, personality, and identity. That process made feedback more specific and productive, strengthened alignment, and ultimately led to an outcome that clearly reflected the intended vision.
